Project/Activity Ideas:
National parks are responsible for covering over 84 million acres of land in 417 separate areas of the United States of America, including the country’s 50 states and five of the sixteen territories (U.S. National Park Service). The existence of these pieces of land are clearly evident to the majority of Americans, yet the reality of the many issues and difficulties that the parks are currently facing seems to remain maddeningly unknown. The current treatment and state of many of our national parks does not reflect the proper care of the world that I feel that we, as human beings, are called to. I believe that this is a problem. I also believe that teachers have an opportunity to make a difference in this field.
“Minute Pic Lit" is an in-class activity for any English language arts class that has the potential to be particularly useful for creative writing. If you are looking for an in-class activity to take up a few minutes of a class period, look no further than Minute Pic Lit.

The National History Day competition is easily my favorite education competition that I have had the opportunity to participate in. Having your students participate in this event is sure to expand their knowledge and appreciation for history, and also improve their writing, speaking, and research skills, drastically.
