Holes

Stanley Yelnat is a fairly normal boy who has bad luck for which he blames his "no-good-dirty-rotten pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather". Stanley is wrongly blamed for the theft of a pair of sneakers, and is therefore sent to a juvenile center in the desert where he is forced to dig holes all day. As the story progresses, Stanley realizes that there may be more to their digging than the simple explanation of "character-building". Read the book to find out if he is right...
